Anyhooo.... Let it be known that tonight I successfully made meatballs. They didn't fall apart, they didn't burn to the pan - they were perfect! Another Delicious recipe - you can always tell the week or so after I get the latest issue. These were described as Sicilian turkey meatballs: turkey, lemon zest, breadcrumbs, raisins, chilli and lots of fresh parsley. These were pan-fried and then you added stock to the pan - turned up the heat and let them cook through and the stock reduce down to a rich gravy kind of thing. Then you stir pasta into the pan at the end of the process and lots more finely chopped parsley. Looked sensational - tasted better. I feel that I've passed some kind of test of adulthood. At this point, I think it's about keeping the heat down a little and keeping them moving. I just used my hands and moved quickly to do this - meant that I could treat them gently and also flip them around easily. Not too many burns.
On a totally unrelated to food point (well there is a lot of talk about food... I won't reveal anything more), I just finished reading Cormac McCarthy's The Road. It's been a while since I was so disturbed and gripped by a book - a little bit Beckett in some ways and (yet! ooo I'll get chucked out of the intellectual elite for that one) utterly absorbing. Read it!
