So all the wedding business was followed by drinks at the impressive Horizon Bar. The margaritas were all too good and D., N.R. and I had too many of them before being kicked out at closing time. A word on ground-level bars in the city which are open after 2 am: they are seedy. Very, very seedy. And the people are very young. And seedy. That didn't stop us visiting two of them (bars, not people) before D. and I retired from the fray around 3:30. I was in a world of pain on Sunday morning and didn't appreciate the breakfast at Siebel, pier one nearly as much as I should have. Half-way through breakfast, I realised that I couldn't look at the water with any degree of equanimity. After that, it was all down hill. Most of Sunday was spent asleep or sitting very still and hoping that surviving the hangover would be worth it. Great weekend. When do we get to do it all again?

So very tired...
I've been very quiet for a few days - it's been a bit chaotic here. Thursday night saw the rehearsal and a very pleasant dinner at The Mixing Pot in Glebe. I started with zucchini flowers which were just a tad underwhelming and then had slow-roasted baby goat. Great flavour but very rich and I don't really think I did I did it justice. Excellent company and a nice setting followed by a couple of discreet cocktails at Different Drummer - nothing like making your companion order a woo woo - followed all too quickly by Friday morning and the last preparations for the wedding on Saturday. It turned out to be a civilised day; breakfast with mum and dad in the city, lunch at the very beautiful Pasticceria Papa in Haberfield and a manicure which I ruined in about three hours followed by some quality time arranging play-lists for the reception and a low-key, nice night in with s.i.l. (whose title is now official) and her parents. The big day dawned bright and warm and went beautifully. S.i.l. looked stunning as did bro and the groom's men and it was all appropriately tear-jerking and joyous. The reception was in the Trawler Room at the Waterfront restaurant. Fabulous canapes (I was introduced to the concept of savoury profiteroles and heartily approve), then a great goat's cheese and vegetable tart for me and a beautiful, juicy piece of steak with appropriate veggies. The two major food groups - meat and cheese. Big, big, rave to mum who made the wedding cake - 8 kilos of nuts and fruits etc and 750 mls of brandy. It was simply the best fruit-cake I've ever tasted.

I really think we should do it all again - it was such great fun! And you looked gorgeous! We need another event to get more wear out of our dresses (although realistically, you are far more likely to find an appropriate event to wear yours to than I will!). S-i-l.
