Boy Food

Not sure why I'm so convinced that tonight's meal was really boy food; after all, I picked it to make and am pretty definitely a girl. But there was something about it.... lots of meat; strong flavours and you can eat it with a spoon. Many apologies to any boys who feel they are being unfairly represented - I guess I'm really modeling that on the bro. Many apologies, also, to the bro if he feels he is being unfairly represented.  Maybe I was just engaged in sympathetic magic - summoning a boy by making chorizo and chickpea stew. Before you think there's anything healthy about that dish, let me add pancetta (in large quantities), chorizo and chickpea stew. While the steam from the hot-plates wafting through my open windows failed to result in even a desultory Prince Charming in the carpark (except for some guy from upstairs cleaning his bike but I don't think he counts), it was an attractive, hearty kind of meal. Lots of bright red from the meats and the passata and green from the parsley and oregano; spicy with the chorizo and sweet with the capsicums and red onions. Maybe just a little short on subtlety but ask me again when it isn't Monday night. This came from the current issue of Delicious  (a cool gift from E.) so it's easy to chase down if you fancy giving it a go.
